Intensive therapy programs are tailored to your child's age, diagnosis and goals. They range between 2-3 hours per session, 5 days per week for 3 weeks to promote faster skill acquisition. Intensive therapy involves high repetition over a short period of time to consolidate skill development by capitalising on the principles of neuroplasticity.
All intensive therapy programs begin with a full assessment and goal setting session ensuring the program is personalised specifically to your child therapy needs and goals.
Working in close collaboration with the child and family, our highly trained paediatric physiotherapist completes a thorough initial assessment, establishing goals and an individual therapy plan. that will challenge your child in a loving environment and push their performance to achieve new movement milestones where they feel most comfortable.
Therapy in the home centers on incorporating what is available within your home in addition to some basic therapy tools ensuring ongoing practice can extend beyond the session.
Therapy sessions can also be completed at daycare, within the school or at a local park if required.
At Greater Sydney Paediatric Therapy, we believe all children should have access to high-quality, evidence-based therapy regardless of where they live. Our Telehealth service allows you to access therapy from the comfort of your own home. We're able to complete a full assessment, set goals, guide exercises and monitor progress all through live video calls.
Parents and/or carers are encouraged to partake in sessions and where needed, coached and guided on hand placement to help their child complete the exercises.
Dynamic Movement Intervention Therapy (DMIT) is a therapeutic technique used to help children with motor delays and improve movement skills. It focuses on promoting neuroplasticity, which is the brain's ability to reorganize and form new connections, to facilitate desired movement patterns and develop gross motor skills. DMIT aims to help children reach developmental milestones and gain confidence in their movement abilities.
DMIT compliments our therapy, especially our intensive therapy programs as it focuses on the latest research of neuro-rehabilitation and neuroplasticity to promote new neural connections.
